This is a physical sunscreen that is very different in texture than others I have tried. It almost feels water-based because it is so light feeling and easy to remove. It seems like it could work with most skin types because it isn't oily feeling or drying. This does make you look bronzed. I like to put this on underneath another physical sunscreen that is too white.

HG! I have been searching for my HG daily sunscreen since i moved to Miami. I only wore facial sunscreen on the beach up north, but the sun is so strong down here, it is a must for every day. I have very sensitive skin, and chemical sunscreens either make my eyes burn (even if the product is not anywhere near my eyes), or sting my skin. So, I have been searching for the perfect physical sunscreen. This has been hard for me since i have combo skin, and many physical sunscreens are very oily. Not this one! At first, I balked at the price, but I finally paid the big bucks after trying all the DS physical sunscreens. The packaging kind of stinks, as it is in a bottle that stands on its lid, causing all of the thinly textured product to pool right under the opening. So, when you open it, much more spills out than your really need. Given how pricey this product is, it is really a waste. And you cannot stand the product on the other end due to how the bottle is shaped. So, that stinks. But, the product itself is fabulous! So light, absorbs right in. I do not notice any color enhancing properties on my medium toned skin, which is fine for me.I hate foundation and do not even wear tinted moisturizer, so i was not really looking for a product with color. What I love is how light and non-oily the product feels. This is my HG, and I want to make it yours also, so that they never discontinue it. :)

I like the idea of this product, a tinted physical sunscreen, but it made me look like an Oompa Loompa =(
I haven't read that this happened to anyone else here so... I'm not sure what that says about me =P
Anyways, this stuff felt great on and layered really nicely with mineral m/u. Didn't do much to mask my ginormous pores but it doesn't specifically say it would.

I do not have redness to my face, though I may a little come winter when I use Renova/Retin-A ( I use it only during cold months). Anyhow, the purple tint in this product is to combat any redness and the zinc calms flared up skin but the zinc and titanium in this product are great uv physical blockers. I choose it because every zinc/titanium sun product leaves a white cast on me and this product does not. Actually I thought it may be more like a tinted moisturizer with better uv protection and it somewhat is. It is not greasy, a little dewy - which I like, so it's non-drying, easy to blend, no white cast, great everyday sunblock, goes great under make-up, and I could see how it could every so slightly even out the skin esp. for those with redness/conditions.

I have been looking for a moisturizer with sun protection for ages, as all the sunblocks were too greasy for me. This sun lotion is amazing - non greasy, feels great on my skin and gives me a little colour. I absolutely love it and am stock buying it when I go the the US!

LOVE this product!!! I have been using this for a couple of weeks and have been very pleased with the way it looks and feels on my skin. I have some redness that I had been using LORAC Oil Free Neutralizer to cover, but I find that this sunscreen gives my skin such a nice healthy- and natural-looking color, I don't need anything else except a little powder foundation when I want to look more "finished". So this product is much more than just sunscreen, and well worth the price!

This is my favorite sunscreen I've tried so far, I like it better than the DDF Matte SS. I'm on my second bottle and still very happy with the results. I have lighter skin (NC15/NC20) and I haven't had a problem with blending, you just have to buff it in really well. It does very subtly even out my skintone. It is little bit shiny on my skin without any makeup, but powder is enough to cover it. The only thing I don't like about it is the gets into my eyebrows so I have to wipe them off right after applying, but not a big deal.

First of all, I have sensitive combination skin. I am also allergic to basically every chemical sunscreen - that means I can only use titanium dioxide or zinc oxide... I prefer both because it covers a wider spectrum. This is my HG. This sunscreen is lightweight, it's not all that oily, especially if I set with powder foundation, and it gives a nice skin-evening tint so I can just wear it with blush/bronzer if I want to skip foundation. I wear it everyday. It's good for body too, and has no fragrance of any kind. I love it. Yes, it is pretty expensive for sunscreen, but considering that anything else gives me small red itchy bumps or is so thick and pasty white that it looks horrible.... I am happy to buy again and again (I'm on my second tube now). As a side note, I also really appreciate that they have an expiration date on the tube.

So far, I love this stuff. I've been looking for a new suscreen for months now and after lots of research, I settled on this stuff. Here's my findings: This does not give any additional color to my light olive toned skin (NC25 for reference). I was concerned after reading the reviews that mentioned a line of demarcation on the jawline so I've been careful to really blend this into my skin, but so far I've noticed that it only evens my skintone out slightly. This is exactly what I wanted. The "spheres" do feel a little strange when first applied, kind of granular, but upon massaging it my skin feels really great - this works far better than most primers for me! When I asked my boyfriend how my new makeup looked, he replied "smoother" and I couldn't agree more! I still apply concealer and some of my Almost Makeup Clinique stuff for the finishing touch. I'll update if anything changes...

5/1/11: WHY DID YOU DISCONTINUE THIS DDF??? WHY????? I AM PANICKING. i have one tube left, just one. i've emailed them a few times begging the return of this product but to no avail. reiteration: I AM PANICKING. i knew this would happen.
6/9/10: yes, another update to proclaim my undying love...it's been almost three years and this is still total HG for me...I've tried a few others but nothing compares--they get tossed ASAP...I can't think of many products that I've stuck with for this long...it's endless love.
ANOTHER UPDATE: it's 1/13/09 and I'm still majorly in love with this product...I will never give it up EVER!!!
I just felt the need to bump up my review as I love this product so much!!
UPDATE: I wrote my original review on 9/30/07 and it's now 8/2/08--I just wanted to reiterate how marvelous this SPF really is...I have been using it faithfully and am still overwhelmed by how great it is! I want to touch upon something that I didn't in my original review though: Like Alicina said, the key to making this product work as far as the hint of color it gives is to really rub and buff into the skin. This allows the microspheres to all break open allowing the color to apply evenly. I wrote to DDF and asked them to please not ever discontinue this--it's HG for me!
I agree with everything cyclecat wrote, most importantly, try before you buy! This works great on my lightish skin (MAC NW20 or CFX E20/E30)--it's not a self-tanner but it darkens me just a smidge and evens me out...I still spot conceal after using this but I find I really don't need full-on "foundation face" when using this. It's very soothing on my somewhat-sensitive skin too, no burning or stinging that I've gotten on occasion with other sunscreens, especially around my nose (allergies, always blowing the schnoz). It's definitely an odd color, purple-grey, at first I thought the sample jar I had was bad because of that weird color, but it applies like a dream. The big thing for me is that it never balls up on my face like other sunscreens--I freakin' hate that...this is a keeper...I just ran out of my very generous sample that I got from god-knows-where and I've got a full-sized tube on the way. I hope DDF never disco's this stuff ($30 for 4oz. through Sephora or Nordies).

    Awesome.
    Pros:
    Non-chemical photostable sunscreen.
    Light, non-greasy.
A lot for the money. Four ounces for about $30.
Nice evening color that doesn't look like makeup and does not look like sunscreen.
    Cons:
    Parabens.
    Would like a higher spf.

I purchased this after trying a sample and reading the reviews and I am very satisfied! I have combo skin that is acne prone, but I have no sensitivities. I was looking for a sunscreen that had a slight tint and a higher SPF. I tried this sunscreen, buffing it into my skin as stated by another reviewer, and found I only needed a spec of concealer and my bronzer! I love this, as it is very even on the skin, does not make my skin oily, and has not made me breakout. The only thing I do not like it the lid on the bottle does not shut all the way, so I am afraid it will leak when I travel. I will re-purchase!

I bought this mainly because it said that it had a skin tone evening effect. It was hardly noticeable. I didn't have any problem with balling that a lot of people have mentioned in their reviews. It's too expensive for a sunblock.

I just got this as a sample from Sephora, and tomorrow I'm going back to buy the tube. At first I was a little wary of the gray color of the product, but I tried it anyway. I'm glad I did: this stuff is amazing, and it solves my biggest summertime complaint. Before trying this, I would layer a sunscreen underneath my Clinique TM (which I still love, by the way). However, this would leave me feeling a little greasier than I'd like, but the coverage of color and SPF was just right, so what's a girl to do? Enter this DDF wonder, which gives great color coverage that's perfect for my skin (I was suspicious of the color adjusting beads, but no more), has a non-chemical SPF of 30, and doesn't cost an absolute fortune (less than buying the sunscreen and TM seperately). I do wish that there weren't so many parabens in it, but at least there aren't chemical sunscreens. The fragrance they use to mask the titanium dioxide and zinc oxide takes some getting used to, but it's worth it. One other point worth noting: the coverage is so great that even though it's sheer and my skin shows through, it makes my pores look so much smaller. Hooray!
***UPDATE*** No go on this one...I was totally in love with this until I saw myself in daylight. When I checked myself outside a few hours after application, I saw this awful line around my chin that was orange. Okay, I thought, bad blending on my part. But then I noticed that my face was a different color from my neck. I looked like a victim of bad self-tanning. I gave it one more try, really blending well, and while it looks okay indoors, it just doesn't look natural when I'm in bright daylight. I removed the lippies because of the color change -- maybe it would help if they replaced the universal color with different shades -- but it still deserves credit for being a high SPF mineral sunscreen.

I love this sunscreen. It's a steal for the amount you get(4oz) for $30. It evens out my skin tone and gives me a nice glow and great sun protection. I am very pale with yellow/neutral undertones and this adjusts to my skin color very well. I also wear it under makeup and my TM. It is one of the best SPF products out there. It's not sticky and neveer gives that white cast. It also works great as a TM. I don't even have to wear makeup when I have this on just a little powder over the top and I am good to go. I love this product and hope they never discontinue it.

The idea of this product is just fantastic. It was great to have high spf and eliminate steps from my morning routine. The lotion felt good going on and was fine with a little powder on top. The reason I won't buy it again and would warn fair skinned girls is that it seemed too dark for me. It's supposed to match your skin tone but the difference between my face and neck was more than obvious. I had to stop using it because no matter how much I blended, it looked horrid near my jaw/neck. If you have more medium tone, I would say it's a great product though.

This is definitely the best sunscreen/ moisturizer I have ever used. My skin glows all day and I don't need to use the concealer anymore. It goes on smooth and doesn't feel gritty on the skin although you can see purple specks in it.

For reference, I have normal to combo skin that I usually need to blot by the afternoon. Initially, this product was somewhat drying and made my face tight and uncomfortable. However, I have begun using a light moisturizer under it (Olay anti-wrinkle anti-blemish) and it seems to be about right. I love the "enhancing" aspect of this. I usually have to use self-tanner on a daily basis so I don't look too pale, but this seems to give me a nice warm glow. I use it on my neck and chest as well and haven't noticed that the tint rubs off on my clothes. The longer I use this (it has been about 3-4 weeks now), the more I like it, especially in comparison with other sunscreens. It absorbs fast, doesn't irritate my eyes, and has no noticeable lingering odor. Within 5 minutes of applying, I can put mmu over it easily. It is looking like my HG everyday facial sunscreen

The key with this product is to really rub and buff it into the skin with your fingers. This application technique is necessary to break open the encapsulated color and smooth it evenly over your complexion. (The same technique is true to get the antioxidants from Fresh's "High Noon", which are similarly encapsulated). I have truly discovered that -- with both of these products-- smoothing it onto the skin is just not going to cut it. That buffing step is key to giving you a finished, smooth, and gorgeous look!

I guess I'm a bit on the fence on this product. I do NOT use chemical sunscreens on my skin as I do not believe they are safe so I have few choices available to me. I have used DDF Organic on and off for years so I decided to give this enhancing formula a try. It is the oddest lilac color coming out of the bottle but that quickly goes away upon application. The one thing I did not like was the gritty texture of the product. It feels like a microdermabrasion cream going on. I guess that's the "enhancing" particles? I don't know. It's just not all that pleasant to use. I have light skin and this did not make me orange nor did it darken my skin at all. It's easy to floof on minerals or my LG Balance n Brighten over top without any caking. It didn't enhance my skin enough that I can go without some powder and concealor so something has to go on top for me. I think I will try the PTR tinted sunscreen next. I may come back to this. It's a good product but not the HG I continue to look for.
